GTA 6 's launch on November 16 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S is set to be one of the biggest game launches of all time , and every other video game publisher has done everything it could to launch their games as far from it as possible, leading to the most packed September and October in recent memory.
However, not every game delayed by Rockstar Games' highly anticipated open-world game had its release date moved for economic reasons. Danganronpa series creator Kazutaka Kodaka delayed Danganronpa 2x2 as, otherwise, he wouldn't have had enough time to play GTA 6 .
"Of course, we wanted more development time. Very natural, right? But separate from that, there's a certain AAA/AAAA title that is gonna be released soon, so we wanted to avoid that a little bit," the series creator said to Crunchyrol l . "I wouldn’t have time to make the game while playing GTA 6, so it was inevitable that we moved the release time."
While Kodaka-san's statement is hilarious, it immediately reminds everyone of something rather important. Game developers are also gamers , something that is easy to forget when one focuses only on the development or business side of the industry . As such, it wouldn't surprise me to learn that a few other developers breathed a sigh of relief when their publishers decided to delay their games , leaving them not only with more development time , but also potentially with more time to play a game that is set to shake up the entire industry significantly .
Besides turning September and October into incredibly packed months for gaming releases , GTA 6 's November 16 release date has also turned February and March 2027 into a gaming slaughter . With titles like Stranger Than Heaven , Fable , Persona 4 Revival , and God of War Laufey releasing in the span of a few weeks, more than a few gamers will be facing a difficult choice for their time and money .
