Independent US developer ProbablyMonsters (which I interviewed earlier this year ) today announced the release date and pricing details for Crimson Moon . The Gothic High Renaissance action-adventure RPG, originally unveiled earlier this year, is launching very soon, on September 1, 2026 , for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series S|X , priced at $19.99 .
Set in the besieged city of Gildenarch , Crimson Moon casts players as Nephilim — half-human, half-angel warriors bound to a dark prophecy — battling demons, vampires, undead gods, and the spreading Hellgrowth as they reclaim the city, district by district.
Built around intense, replayable missions , the game blends deliberate melee combat, celestial transformations, and progression-driven loadout building. Players unlock new abilities, weapons, armor sets, equipment, and gameplay modifiers as they move through 15–45 minute incursions, with scalable difficulty and changing enemy configurations designed to keep each run distinct.
Between missions, players return to the Sanctus Clypeus cathedral hub to upgrade abilities, craft gear, unlock challenges, translate scrolls, and plan the next assault from the War Table. An evolving mission board adds themed challenges, progression paths, and escalating trials, further expanding the game's replay structure.
Crimson Moon also supports optional co-op , letting a second player join the fight, revive allies mid-battle, and combine abilities for stronger synergies. The result is a compact, mission-based action RPG built around skill, adaptation, and repeated runs through a dangerous fantasy city.
