Samsung becomes first TV maker to launch HDR10+ ADVANCED

HDR10+ ADVANCED arrives first on Samsung’s 2026 TVs

Samsung has confirmed that its 2026 TVs will be the first consumer models to support HDR10+ ADVANCED. Prime Video will also become the first streaming service to deliver content using the format globally beginning in August 2026.

HDR10+ ADVANCED was announced by HDR10+ Technologies on December 10, 2025. The organization named MediaTek, Panasonic, Roku, Samsung and TP Vision among the companies supporting its development, but Samsung is the first TV manufacturer to confirm a consumer rollout.

The updated format adds Enhanced Overall Brightness metadata, local tone mapping and genre-based picture optimization. It also introduces Intelligent Motion Smoothing, which lets compatible TVs change their motion processing on a scene-by-scene basis.

Samsung says the motion system can reduce smoothing for movies while applying more processing to sports and other fast-moving content. HDR10+ ADVANCED will not work when Filmmaker Mode is enabled.

Support will begin with Samsung’s 2026 TV lineup and continue with future products. Samsung and Prime Video have not confirmed which titles will support the format or provided a full list of compatible TV models.
