Microsoft erases 32GB RAM gaming recommendations from Windows Learning Center
Microsoft has removed another Windows Learning Center article that recommended 32GB of system memory for gaming. The guide, titled “How to optimize your gaming PC setup,” now redirects visitors to the main Learning Center page.
The deleted article was published in November 2025. It reportedly described 16GB as sufficient for most players, while 32GB was considered ideal for users running demanding games or heavy mods. The article also recommended Copilot+ PCs as an easy route to such a configuration.

We covered the previous article in May, when Microsoft described 16GB as the baseline and 32GB as the “no worries” upgrade for gaming and multitasking. Its original address now redirects to the same Learning Center homepage.
Microsoft has not explained why either article was removed. The current Windows Learning Center contains a replacement gaming guide, but the previous recommendations involving 32GB of memory are no longer available.

The change comes as Microsoft sells 8GB versions of the Surface Pro 12-inch and Surface Laptop 13-inch. Microsoft classifies these configurations as regular Windows 11 PCs, while versions with at least 16GB qualify for Copilot+ PC features. Microsoft describes the 8GB model as suitable for browsing and productivity, while the 16GB version is recommended for heavier applications and Copilot+ experiences.
Microsoft still lists 4GB as the minimum requirement for Windows 11 and 16GB for Copilot+ PCs. The company recently confirmed that it is reducing the Windows memory footprint to improve responsiveness on systems equipped with 8GB or more. These changes are planned to reach general availability by the end of 2026.
