Diablo IV Reportedly Hits Switch 2 in September at $69.99, with a Gamescom 2026 Reveal Expected First

Nintendo Switch 2 players have been waiting a long time to hear about a port of Diablo IV to the latest Nintendo console. The first rumor circulated in early 2025 , even before the Switch 2's launch, but Activision Blizzard remained silent. This year, two different rating boards fueled fans' hopes:

  • The Indonesian rating board listed the most recent expansion, Lord of Hatred , for the original Switch (which might have been a mistake);
  • The Taiwanese rating board listed Diablo IV itself for the Nintendo Switch 2, which makes a lot more sense.

These are solid hints, but renowned leaker billbil-kun has now provided way more concrete details . According to the insider, Diablo IV will be released for the Nintendo Switch 2 on either September 15 or 18 . Blizzard will release a physical edition, but there won't be a disc ; it'll just be a download code, as is becoming increasingly common. The pricing is €69.99 / US$69.99 / £62.99 . Billbil-kun could not verify whether Lord of Hatred will be included, though. Lastly, the leaker speculates an announcement during Geoff Keighley's Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live , which airs on August 25 at 8 PM CET from Cologne, Germany.

This won't be the first time a Diablo game lands on a Nintendo console, of course. Diablo III: Eternal Collection launched on the first Switch on November 2, 2018; it didn't set the sales charts on fire, but it is estimated to have sold around 700K units. Then, Blizzard also launched Diablo II: Resurrected on Switch alongside the other platforms in September 2021.

Switch 2 players had to wait over three years from the original 2023 launch of the base game, but at least they'll get a much more refined game . Lord of Hatred, in particular, introduced many noteworthy systems to the hack-and-slash action RPG while also closing up Mephisto's storyline nicely.

In my review of the expansion , I wrote:

Diablo IV: Lord of Hatred is an excellent expansion that breathes new life into the hack-and-slash action RPG game. The expansion closes a lengthy narrative arc in truly epic fashion, the new Warlock class is extremely fun to play, and the new systems greatly improve build variety and endgame planning.
