Nintendo Switch 2 shipments reaches 23.68 million units

Switch 2 adds 3.82 million units in one quarter

Nintendo Switch 2 reached 23.68 million hardware units and 58.17 million software units sold worldwide as of June 30, 2026. The console has also passed the GameCube, which ended its lifetime at 21.74 million units.

We last covered Nintendo’s sales data in May , when Switch 2 stood at 19.86 million consoles and 48.71 million games through March 31. The latest quarter added 3.82 million consoles and 9.46 million software units, raising both totals by about 19%.

Hardware sales fell 34.4% year over year during the quarter. However, the comparison covers the same period in 2025, which included the Switch 2 launch. Software sales moved in the other direction, rising 9.2% to 9.46 million units. Worth reminding that Nintendo explains these figures as sell-in , covering units sold to retailers and consumers through its own stores.

The original Nintendo Switch had reached 19.67 million hardware units by June 30, 2018. Switch 2 is therefore ahead by 4.01 million units, or 20.4%. The comparison also gives Switch 2 less time on the market because it launched in June 2025, while the first Switch launched in March 2017.

Nintendo says Switch 2 retail sell-through from April through June compares favorably with the original Switch during its second year. The company also claims sales remained steady in Japan after revised hardware pricing took effect on May 25.
