Apparently, it was the MacBook Neo that served as the primary reason for this shift. Well, when people clamor that competition always favors the consumer, they are right about something.

Despite Apple’s price hike, the MacBook Neo is still considered to be a value-focused product, with the base model listed on online retailers like Amazon for $688.49 , offering lots of features that’ll turn consumers away from similarly priced Windows 11 laptops. While one can argue that AI customers seizing up all the RAM supply has made Microsoft more conscious of the popularity of its operating system, IDC Research Manager Jitesh Ubrani has a different view.

As reported by Window s Latest , the stellar pricing of the MacBook Neo has not just put pressure on Microsoft but on the entire PC industry. In addition to competitors coming up with faster processors, Ubrani states that Microsoft will be focused on making Windows 11 more efficient, not to mention its partners adopting a more price-friendly strategy for future buyers.

“The introduction of the MacBook Neo is putting real pressure on the entire PC ecosystem. We expect vendors to respond with a combination of new silicon, a more efficient OS from Microsoft, and aggressive promotional pricing.”

When the MacBook Neo arrived on the market, skeptics were doubtful about its capabilities due to the paltry memory. Fortunately, Apple has proven critics wrong because, in a multitude of tests, its most affordable portable Mac has proven to be impeccable at memory management. For instance, one test shows the MacBook Neo can open 60 apps simultaneously .

The machine’s closest competitor, Dell’s XPS 13 with the same amount of RAM, is already consuming 70 percent of its available memory without opening a single program or browser window. In short, Microsoft is feeling the pressure from all sides, which is why it should be more expeditious in ensuring that Windows 11 runs smoothly on all 8GB RAM machines. Hopefully, the software giant won’t turn away from its original promise.
