MSI MPG 271KRAW18 may be cancelled over “technical feasibility”
The January 2027 launch is no longer happening as planned.
MSI’s MPG 271KRAW18 may not reach the market after all. The 27-inch 5K Mini LED gaming monitor, which MSI showed at Computex 2026, has now been put on hold indefinitely.
According to TFTCentral, MSI confirmed that the monitor is on hold because of “technical feasibility” and because the company is prioritizing other monitor projects. TFTCentral adds that the MPG 271KRAW18 may now be cancelled completely.
5K at 180Hz project runs into problems

This is a change from the information available during Computex. At the time, MSI was reportedly targeting an early January 2027 release, although pricing had not been finalized.
The MPG 271KRAW18 was one of the more unusual Mini LED monitors shown this year. It uses a 27-inch Rapid IPS panel with a native 5120×2880 resolution at 180Hz. Its dual-mode feature also supports 2560×1440 at 330Hz.

The display has a 2,304-zone Mini LED backlight, glossy coating, Quantum Dot layer and VESA DisplayHDR 1400 certification. MSI listed peak brightness above 1,400 nits, 98% DCI-P3 coverage and a 0.5ms GtG response time. Connectivity was also supposed to include DisplayPort 2.1 with full UHBR20 bandwidth, HDMI 2.1 and USB Type-C with DisplayPort Alt Mode and 98W power delivery.

MSI originally introduced the monitor as the MPG 271KRAW16 with 5K at 165Hz. The updated MPG 271KRAW18 shown at Computex increased this to 180Hz and upgraded DisplayPort connectivity from UHBR13.5 to UHBR20. For now, those upgrades may never make it into a retail product.
