GPD WIN Max 3 reportedly starts at $1,699 with Ryzen AI Max+ 388 and 32GB memory
GPD’s new Strix Halo handheld gaming laptop may launch later this month with prices starting at $1,699.
GPD has now published the full specifications for its WIN Max 3, but the company has not announced prices yet. According to a new report, the handheld gaming laptop will reportedly start at $1,699 , with global orders expected to begin near the end of August.
The $1,699 configuration is expected to use the AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 388 , an 8-core Zen 5 processor paired with Radeon 8060S integrated graphics. It should also include 32GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory and a 512GB SSD. GPD will offer higher configurations with the 16-core Ryzen AI Max+ 395, up to 128GB of memory and as much as 4TB of storage. GPD confirms that both processors use the same 40-CU Radeon 8060S GPU.
165Hz AMOLED with Real RGB layout
One of the biggest changes from the WIN Max 2 is the display. The WIN Max 3 has a smaller 9.06-inch 2400×1504 AMOLED panel , but refresh rate increases from 60Hz to 165Hz. GPD says the LTPS panel uses a Real RGB pixel layout rather than PenTile , meaning every pixel has independent red, green and blue subpixels. The display has a listed density of 313 PPI and supports HDR and 165Hz operation at the same time.

© GPD GPD also rates the screen at 650 nits in standard operation and up to 1,050 nits in high-brightness mode . Refresh rate can be switched between 60Hz, 120Hz, 144Hz and 165Hz. Other display specifications include Gorilla Glass 6, 10-point touch and active stylus support.
Removable 97Wh battery and optional cooling module
The WIN Max 3 also changes how the battery and cooling system work. The main unit weighs 815 grams without modules, while the removable 97Wh battery adds 405 grams , bringing the total to about 1.22 kg. GPD also offers a 145-gram external cooling module. With this attached, the system uses four fans and GPD lists a maximum processor power of 110W.
The system also has two M.2 slots, including PCIe 4.0 ×4 support for the main M.2 2280 SSD and an additional PCIe 4.0 ×2 M.2 2230 slot. There is also a microSD Express slot rated at up to 900 MB/s, USB4, USB-C, two USB-A ports and HDMI 2.1 FRL.
For now, $1,699 remains a rumored starting price , and GPD has not confirmed pricing for the Ryzen AI Max+ 395, 64GB or 128GB configurations. But if you’re interested, they have a full specification page.
