A sign of bad times: used GeForce RTX 3080 Ti cards are back on sale
© OLIOSPEC Japanese PC hardware retailer OLIOSPEC has started selling used graphics cards. One of the first products advertised through its official X account was a ZOTAC GAMING GeForce RTX 3080 Ti Trinity OC 12GB for ¥63,800 including tax. The listing is already marked as sold out.
The price works out to approximately $404 or €350 at current exchange rates. OLIOSPEC classified the card as Grade A, which it defines as hardware with few visible scratches or marks and limited signs of use. The card had been tested, included its original box and came with a one-month warranty.
RTX 3080 Ti returns to Japanese retail as a used card
The RTX 3080 Ti launched in June 2021 with 10,240 CUDA cores and 12GB of GDDR6X memory on a 384-bit interface. This particular Trinity OC model runs at up to 1,695 MHz according to ZOTAC.
For comparison, RTX 3080 Ti cards started at around ¥175,000 in Japan when the GPU launched. The standard ZOTAC Trinity was listed for ¥179,800 at the time. The used OLIOSPEC card therefore sold for roughly 64% less than those early Japanese retail prices.
OLIOSPEC’s announcement is also interesting because the retailer says it has now started selling used products . Its used hardware category currently contains only two GPU listings: the sold-out RTX 3080 Ti and an MSI GeForce RTX 3090 GAMING X TRIO fitted with an EK water block for ¥198,000.
The move comes as new GeForce pricing in Japan is heading in the opposite direction. As we reported this week, Japanese retailer Sofmap said RTX 5070 cards had passed ¥110,000, while RTX 5070 Ti and RTX 5080 shipments were becoming less predictable. Japanese distributor CFD Sales has also announced GIGABYTE GPU price revisions of around 20% to 40%.
