BeamNG.drive is getting NVIDIA DLSS and AMD FSR support. BeamNG developer Panos Karabelas confirmed that both upscalers are “coming soon,” although he did not reveal which versions will be supported or when the update will arrive.

This has been requested by players for years. BeamNG developers were already discussing temporal upscalers in 2023, when they explained that the renderer first needed proper motion data for objects such as trees, grass and animated geometry. Players continued requesting DLSS and FSR in later update discussions.

The announcement comes shortly after BeamNG.drive 0.39 , which brought the game’s largest graphics overhaul so far. DirectX 12 is now the default renderer on Windows, while DirectX 11 has been moved to an obsolete fallback option. The update also added improved Vulkan support, HDR output, clustered shading, reworked shadows, GTAO and a new tone-mapping system.

You asked for it, you’re getting it.

BeamNG also introduced physically correct light attenuation, volumetric clouds, a new sky model and auto exposure. These changes come with a GPU cost. The developers warned that 0.39’s jump in visual quality can reduce frame rates and suggested lowering graphics presets where necessary.

DLSS and FSR should give players another way to “recover” performance without simply lowering graphics settings or output resolution. Given the heavier GPU requirements introduced with the recent graphics overhaul, their addition may be a necessity, rather than a feature.
