AMD Ryzen 5 439 and Ryzen 7 449 drop NPU support from Gorgon Point

AMD has quietly added two processors to its mobile lineup, the Ryzen 5 439 and Ryzen 7 449. Both use the Gorgon Point silicon found in the Ryzen AI 400 series, but AMD lists them simply under the Ryzen 400 Series. Neither processor carries Ryzen AI branding or lists NPU capabilities.
The Ryzen 5 439 has six cores and 12 threads split between three Zen 5 and three Zen 5c cores. It reaches 4.6 GHz on the Zen 5 cores and 3.3 GHz on Zen 5c, with 8 MB of L3 cache. AMD also includes Radeon 840M graphics with four RDNA 3.5 Compute Units running at up to 2.8 GHz.

The closest comparison is the Ryzen AI 5 PRO 440, which uses the same 3+3 core configuration but reaches 4.8 GHz and has 16 MB of L3 cache. Its Radeon 840M also runs at up to 2.9 GHz. More importantly, AMD lists a 50 TOPS NPU and up to 59 TOPS of combined AI performance for the Ryzen AI model. None of those AI specifications appear on the Ryzen 5 439 page.
© AMD The Ryzen 7 449 steps up to four Zen 5 and four Zen 5c cores for eight cores and 16 threads. It boosts to 5.0 GHz, while Zen 5c reaches 3.4 GHz. The chip keeps 16 MB of L3 cache and uses Radeon 860M graphics with eight RDNA 3.5 Compute Units at up to 2.8 GHz.
Its specifications are close to the Ryzen AI 7 PRO 450, although that processor reaches 5.1 GHz on Zen 5 and 3.6 GHz on Zen 5c. Its Radeon 860M is also clocked higher at 3.1 GHz. AMD rates the PRO chip’s NPU at up to 50 TOPS and total AI performance at up to 66 TOPS, while the Ryzen 7 449 has no NPU specification listed.
AMD has not explained whether these are Gorgon Point dies with physically disabled or otherwise unavailable NPUs. No laptops have been announced with these SKUs as far as I can tell.
