Acer’s Has Quietly Opened Pre-Orders For Its MacBook Neo Competitor, The Snapdragon C-Powered Aspire Go, With The Same Memory Count But At A Much Lower Price

The arrival of the MacBook Neo has ushered in a wave of affordable Windows 11 notebooks. First, it was Dell’s XPS 13 , and now, we have Acer, which is quietly taking pre-orders for the Aspire Go 15, its affordable offering that’s powered by none other than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon C . It also packs the same RAM count as the MacBook Neo, and its listing price is much lower than the latter.

Alongside the 8-core Snapdragon C, the Aspire Go 15 features 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Given that the U.K. pre-order price on Amazon is £499, while the MacBook Neo is available for £699, the Taiwanese manufacturer had to bring some compromises to the table, starting with half the base storage. There’s no confirmation if the laptop ships with onboard eMMC memory or if it’s an actual NVMe drive that can be upgraded down the road.

If it’s the latter, then that’s good news for future buyers, assuming that they’ll entertain an SSD purchase in the future. The SoC isn’t going to be faster than Apple’s A18 Pro, and according to a previous rumor, the Snapdragon C’s CPU cores are just slightly overclocked  Kryo 670 ones found in much older mid-range chipsets like the Snapdragon 778G and Snapdragon 780G. In short, for tackling everyday tasks, the Aspire Go 15 should be plentiful, but when it comes to steamrolling through taxing workloads, you’ll need to find something more powerful.

The display is a decent 15.6-inch IPS LCD with a standard 1,920 x 1,080 resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. You also get a full-sized keyboard, two USB-C ports, one USB-A port, and a single HDMI 1.4 input. For wireless connectivity, the Aspire Go 15 ships with Wi-Fi 6E support, with a 1080p webcam and dual speakers as part of the computing package. Keeping all the lights on is a modest 53WHr battery, but there are no runtime details provided.

From a pricing perspective, Acer has offered a compelling alternative to the MacBook Neo, but without knowing how the Snapdragon C performs, along with its efficiency metrics, not to mention if the Aspire Go’s chassis is meant for long-term use, we cannot deduce if that £499 price tag is worth it. However, we can confirm that critics love the MacBook Neo, and if you want one, Amazon is selling the 256GB SSD version from $696 onwards .
