Cooler Master launches $50 12V-2×6 GPU Shield in China with 3-year warranty against melting

Cooler Master launches 12V-2×6 GPU protection adapter

Cooler Master has started selling its new GPU Guard adapter in China. It is much easier to install than most GPU protection systems, beacuse it’s basically a cable extender. The device sits between the PSU cable and GPU 16-pin power connector and adds monitoring and protection features for 12V-2×6 connections.

The adapter is listed on Cooler Master’s official JD.com store for 359 RMB, around $50 USD. The model is listed under CMA-CEPC16XXBK1-GL and includes the protection box, a 12V-2×6 cable, mounting plate and manual. It is currently listed as out of stock.

Sound, LED and automatic shutdown protection

Cooler Master says the adapter includes sound and LED warnings as well as an active power-off protection mechanism. The product description also mentions a fusible protection system intended to disconnect power if an abnormal condition is detected.

According to the product page, Cooler Master offers a three-year warranty in China with full compensation if the connector melts while the product is being used under the warranty conditions. These terms currently apply only to the Chinese market (for now).

The company has not yet announced when GPU Shield will become available outside China. More importantly, Cooler Master says the GPU Shield Adapter can be used with any graphics card using a 12V-2×6/12+4-pin power connector, regardless of the PSU brand.
