Beast of Reincarnation Gets NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and AMD FSR 4.0 Support, But Promised Story Improvements Disappoint

Beast of Reincarnation launched last week on PC , PlayStation 5 , Xbox Series X , and Xbox Series S , but the game's launch state was far from optimal, featuring a variety of technical issues that made it impossible for many to enjoy what is, in my opinion, a solid action RPG . GAME FREAK and Fictions immediately acknowledged the game's issues, vowing to fix them as quickly as possible , and the first results of their effort are now available in the form of a patch that somewhat disappoints in regard to the promised story improvements .

Regarding the game's technical issues , the 1.0.7 patch does a rather good job, adjusting the camera , increasing text size , changing the default cinematic cutscene setting , the ability to change the "Interact" button , and more.

  • Various adjustments to the player camera , both in and out of combat .
  • Additional camera adjustments will be made going forward.
  • Adjustments to text size throughout the game.
  • Further text size adjustments are being planned.
  • The default cinematic cutscene setting has been changed from Cinematic to Performance mode . This means that cutscenes will no longer play at 24fps by default, though the option is still available.
  • Please note that if you already have this option set to Cinematic , changing it to Performance will apply this change going forward.
  • Players can now change the mapping of the "Interact" button in settings .

The new Beast of Reincarnation patch also introduces some balance changes , including adjustments to Emma 's parry window when Emma is taking damage . This was, in my opinion, one of the most annoying issues in the launch game . Although I didn't note it in my review ,as I thought it was my fault I couldn't parry after getting damaged , seeing other players having the same issue highlighted how this was due to the game itself, and not only a lack of skill on the player's part.

  • Adjustments to the parry window when Emma is taking damage .
  • Various balance adjustments to bosses across all difficulty levels .
  • Various balance adjustments to enemy encounters on Normal difficulty .

The new patch also brings some PC-specific improvements , including support for NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 and AMD FSR 4 . The implementation of upscalers was essentially broken in the launch version , so this is a very welcome addition.

Where the Beast of Reincarnation 1.0.7 patch slightly disappoints, however, is with the promised story improvements . According to the patch notes : "Story pacing has been slightly adjusted by ensuring that some of the affinity-building conversations that could occur multiple times in a row are now limited to once per day."

This change, while welcome, doesn't exactly address the complaints many have had since launch, although GAME FREAK and Fictions promise that "additional updates are being planned to further improve cutscene experience." This could very well be a skip button for all cutscenes , as, for some reason, it is possible to skip very few cutscenes as per the game's current version.

Hopefully, the promised future improvements will further enhance Beast of Reincarnation and make it easier for many to enjoy the game. While it is not one of the most innovative games around, it's still a worthy game to get for fans of the genre if they are willing to look past some shortcomings.
