Lenovo Project Swan joins growing lineup of rollable and foldable PCs

Windows Latest has published images of a new ThinkBook internally called Project Swan, which uses a screen that expands horizontally from both sides. The system appears a render, perhaps it has a working prototype that will be showcased around IFA next month.
This ThinkBook expands the display horizontally
Unlike Lenovo’s existing ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable , Project Swan appears to store parts of the flexible display inside both sides of the lid. Motorized rails then extend the panel outward. The leaked images show a shorter central hinge and two USB-C ports on the left side. Display size, processor options and other specifications have not been revealed.
© WindowsLatest/Lenovo Lenovo already sells the ThinkBook Plus Gen 6 Rollable, which takes the opposite approach. Its OLED panel expands vertically from 14 inches to 16.7 inches. We first covered the system before CES 2025 , when Lenovo was preparing to turn its earlier rollable prototype into a commercial laptop. The finished model later launched at $3,499, although Lenovo subsequently listed it for $3,299.
Lenovo has already tested several rollable and foldable PCs
Project Swan also follows several experimental Lenovo systems we covered over the past year. The Legion Pro Rollable expands its 16-inch OLED horizontally to 21.5 or 24 inches and supports hardware up to a GeForce RTX 5090 Laptop GPU, although Lenovo has no retail plans for that concept. The ThinkPad Rollable XD instead expands vertically from 13.3 to 16 inches and combines the flexible OLED with a partially transparent rear cover.
Lenovo has experimented with folding screens as well. The ThinkBook Flip concept uses a single OLED panel that bends over the top of the lid, while the Legion Go Fold demonstrated a 7.7-inch POLED panel that unfolds to 11.6 inches. Project Swan is another variation on the same idea of increasing display area without permanently increasing the size of the PC.
Lenovo has not confirmed when the new ThinkBook will be shown or whether it will become a retail product.
