NVIDIA RTX 50 pricing just got a ‘DLSS’ boost
NVIDIA has not announced new pricing for the GeForce RTX 50 series. The company’s US product pages still show the original launch prices, including $299 for the RTX 5060, $549 for the RTX 5070, $999 for the RTX 5080 and $1,999 for the RTX 5090. However, retail pricing continues to move further away from those figures.
Just a look at price aggregator sites like PCPartPicker shows that even the cheapest available RTX 50 models were already above MSRP. The RTX 5060 Ti 8GB was the closest at $429.99, or 13% above its $379 MSRP. The RTX 5090 reached $4,099.99 for the cheapest listing not marked as out of stock, which was 105% above NVIDIA’s $1,999 price.

A newer snapshot of Newegg listings shows an even larger difference when comparing median prices rather than the cheapest available cards. The RTX 5070 median has increased from $659.99 in June to $899.99 in August, a 36% increase. That puts the typical listing around 64% above the card’s $549 MSRP.

The largest recent increase is on the RTX 5060 Ti 16GB. Its median listing moved from $569.99 to $804.99 in two months, an increase of 39%. The RTX 5060 rose 27% to $469.99. Meanwhile, the RTX 5070 Ti remained at $1,099.99 and the RTX 5080 moved only 3% to $1,499.99, although both were already well above MSRP in June.
The RTX 5090 shows why the percentage change from June does not tell the whole story. Its median increased by only 9%, from $4,299.99 to $4,699.99, but the starting point was already more than twice NVIDIA’s launch price. At $4,699.99, the median Newegg listing is around $2,701 above MSRP, or 135% higher.
RTX 50 at MSRP, only for special events
This comes just after NVIDIA offered RTX 5090, RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Founders Edition cards at MSRP during QuakeCon 2026 in Texas. The company called the program “Verified Priority Access IRL.” The sale ran during the August 6 to August 9 event and was limited to available stock.

NVIDIA instead brought what it calls “Verified Priority Access IRL” to QuakeCon 2026. Visitors to the GeForce booth in Texas could purchase RTX 5090, RTX 5080 and RTX 5070 Founders Edition cards at MSRP while supplies lasted. We have seen plenty of comments pointing out that, for some buyers, flying across the US to attend the event, buying the card and flying home could still cost less than purchasing an RTX 5090 locally.
For reasons that remain unclear, NVIDIA continues to advertise the RTX 5090 at $1,999 even though that price has been almost impossible to find at regular retailers since launch. NVIDIA has also avoided announcing any official price increase, which means the MSRP technically remains unchanged. At the same time, the company can still say it sells cards at MSRP, provided buyers happen to attend one specific event.
