Chuwi UniBook advertised with 100% sRGB, reviews measure just 59-64%
© TechRadar Chuwi has changed the specifications of its UniBook laptop after independent reviews found that its display does not come close to the advertised 100% sRGB coverage. Multiple review samples measured around 60% sRGB, with results ranging from 58.9% to 64%.
The UniBook launched with a 14-inch 1920×1200 IPS display rated at 300 nits and 100% sRGB coverage. Notebookcheck measured just 58.9% sRGB on its review unit using an X-Rite i1Pro 3. Another reviews from TechRadar and The Verge measured 63-64%, showing that the result was not limited to a single sample.

Notebookcheck says it contacted Chuwi after finding the discrepancy. The publication wanted to confirm whether its review unit could have used a pre-production or otherwise different panel. According to Notebookcheck, Chuwi confirmed the measurement and then removed the 100% sRGB specification from its product pages.
© NotebookCheck The current UniBook listing now mentions the 1920×1200 IPS panel and 300-nit brightness but no longer specifies color gamut coverage. The brightness claim appears to be reasonably accurate in reviews. The issue is the advertised color coverage, which independent testing puts much closer to a typical low-gamut laptop panel.
This is not Chuwi’s first specification issue
Chuwi already faced a separate controversy earlier this year involving CoreBook X and CoreBook Plus laptops. Some systems advertised with the AMD Ryzen 5 7430U were reportedly found with Ryzen 5 5500U processors instead. Chuwi later blamed a production process error and offered refunds, while AMD said it had not authorized or acknowledged the CPU relabeling.
The screen quality itself may not be unusual for a $449 laptop. The concern is Chuwi repeatedly advertising specifications that do not match the hardware it actually sells. Still, Chuwi deserves some credit for sending a review sample to Notebookcheck. This is the same media that previously uncovered the company’s CPU switching issue.
