The long-rumored The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is among the few games launching in 2026 still lacking a solid release date. While there's a high likelihood the remake of what is considered one of the best games of all time will clash directly with GTA 6 this Novembe r , Nintendo is keeping a tight lid on when the highlight of the year's Nintendo Switch 2 release schedule will launch.

However, the announcement may be right around the corner, as designs for the limited-edition console and Pro Controller meant to celebrate the series' 40th anniversary have leaked online.

The leaked images shared on the ResetERA forums only show the design of the boxes for both the Nintendo Switch 2 limited-edition system and the Pro Controller , but even so, they provide a good look at what are likely to become heavily sought-after items for fans of the series. And the fact that they are already circulating online strongly suggests that Nintendo is preparing to launch the marketing campaign for the remake and thus reveal its release date.

It's not just The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time release date that Nintendo is keeping under wraps, but the game itself. During the June Nintendo Direct , the Japanese company showed very little of it, opting for a short teaser ahead of a proper reveal, which shouldn't be too far off.

With Gamescom right around the corner and the Tokyo Game Show in September , it probably won't be long before we learn if the remake will play it safe or if it will go in a bolder direction than the Nintendo 3DS remake released back in 2011.
