Remedy Keeps Its Silence On Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake, As Rockstar Seizes Control Of Its Promotion

Besides working on CONTROL Resonant , which will mark a significant shift for the franchise with the introduction of action gameplay reminiscent of games like Devil May Cry , Remedy Entertainment is working on the Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake for Rockstar Games . In today's financial report , the Finnish developer reiterated that the remake is in full production, but did not elaborate further on the current progress, and we may not hear much about it for a few more months, as the ball is apparently in Rockstar Games' court.

As reported by Rockstar Intel , during the Q&A session held after the release of the earnings report, Remedy’s investor relations manager Aapo Kilpinen confirmed that "Rockstar Games is handling the publishing side," so the Finnish developer couldn't reply to the many questions asked about the highly anticipated remakes.

With GTA 6 set to monopolize the attention of the gaming world for quite a long time, as the game's release will only mark the beginning of its dominance in gaming discourse and gamers' living rooms, Rockstar Games is unlikely to do anything that would take the attention away, although any news regarding the Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake is unlikely to divert the attention away from what is set to become one of the most popular games ever released, if not the most popular.

Although the silence on Max Payne 1 and 2 Remake may be getting unnerving, there's no real cause to worry as of now. As the game entered full production in 2024 , we may be looking at a 2027 release if development is proceeding well. Considering how Rockstar Games favors shorter marketing periods, it wouldn't be surprising if the game got a full reveal only a few months before its launch on PC , PlayStation 5 , and Xbox Series X|S .
