NVIDIA's flagship Blackwell GPU, the RTX PRO 6000 , is now listed at $16,000 US, the highest price since its launch.
Memory shortages and the resultant price increases are giving no relief to PC segments, whether on the gaming or professional side of the spectrum. Just two months ago, the RTX PRO 6000 was selling for over $13,000 US , and now, it has reached a new high of $16,000.
The NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell is a specialized variant, designed for prosumers, and has lots of capabilities to offer in the AI space. It is the only graphics card that packs a mammoth memory capacity of 96 GB and offers a better core than the one used on NVIDIA's fastest gaming graphics card, the RTX 5090.
Simply put, the 96 GB memory makes the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell an enticing product for AI devs and AI workstations, but that 96 GB GDDR7 solution comes at a cost. Due to ongoing shortages in the memory segment, prices for premium DRAM components are on the rise, and cards such as the 32 GB RTX 5090 have already surpassed the 2x price barrier compared to their MSRPs. These RTX 5090 cards currently retail close to $4500 US (versus the original MSRP of $1999).
So it was expected that the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell would see a hefty price bump given it has 3x the memory capacity of the RTX 5090. The price increase on the RTX PRO 6000 was gradual and in steps, and hadn't reached the same 2x hike as its gaming sibling, but we can't say that anymore, as the card is now well on its way to surpassing the 2x MSRP scale.
As per the latest listing by NVIDIA, the RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell is officially listed at $16,000 US. This isn't some retail listing; this is the official listing from NVIDIA itself , and this can also be verified through PNY , the main partner of NVIDIA's PRO GPUs.
Originally, the card launched around $8000 US, but this new $16,000 listing puts it at almost 2x the price. With memory prices fluctuating like crazy, and more hikes expected in the coming quarters, we can expect RTX PRO 6000s to even breach the $20K wall, considering that everyone making DRAM has alerted that shortages will persist for years to come.
Things aren't looking great, and standard consumer cards are also affected big time. We just reported how AMD's Radeon RX 9000 GPUs have seen a major price increase , and RTX 50 GPUs from NVIDIA are already climbing like crazy . In short, it looks like the "new normal" hinted at by Lenovo is very much real, and this is something that all of us will have to deal with for years.
