Today, developer KING Art Games and publisher Plaion revealed a delay for their upcoming RTS game Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV . Previously slated to launch on September 17 for PC via Steam, it'll now debut on December 3 instead. As you'd expect, the studio is chalking up the date change to a need for polishing and balancing. Here's what Creative Director Jan Theysen said in a brief video :
Like many of you, we were looking forward to playing the game in September, but we really believe this is the right decision, and the additional time will be worth it. The response to Dawn of War IV has been amazing.
You've watched our Faction Trailers, the Battlefield Reports, and thousands of you have played the game in multiple community playtests, sharing your feedback. All this helped a lot to shape the experience, and we're very proud of what we accomplished so far.
We know from your feedback that the game feels right, and we captured what makes Dawn of War so special. So why delay it? It’s because we need the extra weeks to get more of your feedback into the game, to fix bugs, improve performance, and polish the experience.
We want to deliver a game that lives up to our ambitions and to your expectations. We want to make sure that every player has the best possible experience from day one. Over the coming weeks, we'll keep showing you what we're working on and how your feedback is shaping the game.
There'll be more Battlefield Reports, more gameplay, and more deep dives into different parts of the game. We're also sharing an updated Year One roadmap today, so you can see how all our post-launch content now lines up with the new launch date.
The Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV Year One roadmap includes the return of Crusade Mode , accompanied by new maps, modes, Commanders, and the Mission Editor, as well as two significant story expansions ( Blood Ravens and Aftermath ) that will enhance the conflict on Kronus and bring a new playable faction to the battlefield.
The new December 3 date is certainly far removed from anything else. Well, except for GTA 6 , which is due on November 19. Still, the game isn't launching on PC initially, and Dawn of War IV appeals to a different enough audience not to worry about the behemoth too much.
