Qualcomm details Snapdragon C for entry-level PCs
Qualcomm has shared more details about its Snapdragon C platform for entry-level Windows laptops. The chip was announced in June for systems expected to start around $300. Qualcomm now confirms an 8-core Kryo CPU, integrated Adreno graphics and a Hexagon NPU.
The Snapdragon C CPU reaches up to 3.0 GHz in single-core workloads and up to 2.0 GHz in multi-core operation. Qualcomm lists 2MB of total cache. The integrated Adreno GPU runs at up to 900 MHz, while the company has not disclosed the performance of the Hexagon NPU in TOPS.
Snapdragon C supports up to 16GB memory
The platform supports up to 16GB of LPDDR5 , LPDDR5X or LPDDR4X memory. Storage options include PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSDs and UFS 2.2 or UFS 3.1. Qualcomm also lists the FastConnect 6700 platform with Wi-Fi 6/6E and Bluetooth 6.0 support.

On battery power, the company claims 44% higher Geekbench single-core performance and 24% higher multi-core performance. The claimed advantage rises to 50% in Cinebench single-core and 67% in Cinebench multi-core, while Speedometer 3.1 shows a 39% gain.
Qualcomm claims up to 2.1x better power efficiency
Qualcomm also claims up to 2.1 times better power efficiency than the Intel N250. Its test results show gains ranging from 39% for idle application workloads to 106% for Netflix playback in Microsoft Edge. Web browsing is listed at 68% better efficiency, while Teams video and audio workloads show 74% and 99% gains respectively.

© Qualcomm Snapdragon C laptops are coming from Acer, ASUS, HP and Lenovo. Acer has already shown its Aspire Go 15 with Snapdragon C, 8GB of memory and a 512GB SSD. Qualcomm has not announced exact launch dates for the first systems, and OEM pricing has yet to be confirmed.
The supplied material confirms the 8-core CPU, 3.0 GHz single-core clock, 2.0 GHz multi-core clock and 2MB cache. It also lists up to 16GB memory, PCIe 3.0 NVMe/UFS storage, Wi-Fi 6/6E and USB support. Qualcomm’s published battery benchmarks show up to 67% higher performance and up to 2.1x better power efficiency against Intel N250. Acer, ASUS, HP and Lenovo are named as upcoming partners.
