Embracer Pins Darksiders 4 and the next Kingdom Come to April 2027/ March 2028, Giving Fans a Firm Release Window

In today's Q1 FY 2026/27 report , the Embracer Group confirmed that both Darksiders 4 and the next Kingdom Come game will be released in the next fiscal year (2027/28), which kicks off in April 2027 and ends in March 2028. That gives us a pretty clear release window for both games.

Darksiders 4 was announced in August 2025 to be in development at Gunfire Games , the studio that made Darksiders III and also includes several of the developers who worked on the first two installments. For the first time in the series, all four Horsemen of the Apocalypse (Death, Strife, Fury, and War) will be playable, and to exploit that, the developer is also adding online co-op, another first.

There's not a whole lot we know about the game , except that it will feature a mixture of combat, traversal, and puzzles; that each Horseman will offer unique weapons, combat styles, and supernatural abilities; and that the apocalyptic landscapes will be filled with secrets to uncover, enemies to slay, and mythic bosses to defeat.

As for the next Kingdom Come title, we already knew it would be released in that window thanks to developer Warhorse Studios (which is also early in development on a roleplaying game based on The Lord of the Rings , another IP owned by Embracer). Fans wondered how a new game could be made so quickly (the second entry only launched in February 2025, and the studio took seven years to make it), but the trademark provided some clarity: the new game will seemingly be called Kingdom Come Salvation , suggesting a smaller spin-off rather than a full-fledged sequel. Still, the studio assured fans that it will be another realistic and immersive game.

The report also confirms that Tomb Raider: Catalyst is launching in that fiscal year, though it does not clarify whether it will be in 2027 or 2028, as the head of Amazon Game Studios recently let slip . Beyond the release window confirmations, the report itself paints a picture of a company gaining some momentum . Group net sales rose 24% year-over-year to SEK 3,943 million, with 33% organic growth, while Cash EBIT swung from a negative SEK 99 million a year ago to a positive SEK 47 million this quarter.

The strongest performer by far was the Embracer operating segment (the group's PC/console, mobile, and distribution arm), which saw net sales jump 48%, powered largely by the Gothic 1 Remake , which sold 500K units in its first week and is already nearing profitability. Fellowship Entertainment , the IP-led side of the business housing Tomb Raider, Kingdom Come, and Metro, had a comparatively quiet quarter with no new releases and a 23% sales decline, though Embracer expects that to reverse sharply once Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War IV , Metro 2039 , and Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis all land later in the fiscal year.
