Intel Panther Lake handheld with 8 CPU and 4 Xe3 cores reportedly planned

Intel could add lower-end G3 handheld processor with 4 Xe3 cores

Intel may be preparing another Panther Lake processor for gaming handhelds. According to leaker Jaykihn, the new configuration uses a 4+0+4 CPU layout with 4 Xe3 GPU cores . This means four Performance cores, no standard Efficient cores, four Low Power Efficient cores and four Xe3 graphics cores.

This configuration is quite different from the two Arc G3 processors Intel already announced for handhelds. Arc G3 Extreme and Arc G3 both use 14 CPU cores in a 2P+8E+4LP configuration. They feature 12 and 10 Xe3 cores respectively. Intel lists those graphics configurations as Arc B390 and Arc B370.

A much smaller Panther Lake handheld chip

The CPU and GPU configuration itself is not new to Panther Lake. Intel already sells Core Ultra 7 365, Ultra 7 355, Ultra 5 335 and Ultra 5 325 processors with the same 4P+0E+4LP CPU layout and four Xe3 graphics cores. These processors are currently listed with Intel Graphics rather than Arc branding.

What appears to be new is Intel using this configuration specifically for a handheld processor.

Could be a lower-end G3 model

This could point to Intel expanding the G3 handheld family with a lower-end processor. The existing G3 Extreme and G3 parts currently cover the 12-core and 10-core Xe3 configurations, leaving room below them for cheaper handheld designs. Intel has not confirmed the name, power limits, memory support or whether this processor will actually carry G3 branding.
