Intel confirms Nova Lake’s new CPU core will debut on desktop first

Intel confirms desktop will get Nova Lake’s new CPU core before Xeon

Intel has clarified an important detail about its Nova Lake rollout. Robert Hallock, Intel VP and general manager of the enthusiast channel business, says the company’s new CPU core will arrive on desktop before it reaches the data center.

Hallock made the comment while discussing AMD’s decision to introduce its Zen 6 architecture with EPYC Venice before the consumer Zen 6 lineup. Intel appears to be taking the opposite route with its next CPU core.

“I have a new core. It’s coming to desktop first. I mean, I hope enthusiasts do the math about that one.”

— Robert Hallock, Intel

Hallock did not name the core or disclose additional specifications, but he explicitly confirmed desktop as its first destination.

Intel’s Nova Lake 2026 roadmap becomes clearer

Intel has said for some time that Nova Lake is coming in 2026. The company previously described Panther Lake as its next client product, followed by Nova Lake in 2026. However, Intel had not made it clear which Nova Lake implementation would arrive first.

Nova Lake is expected across multiple consumer segments, while Intel is also developing future server cores derived from related architectures. Hallock’s statement now confirms that the new core associated with Nova Lake will reach consumer desktop processors first, rather than debuting in a Xeon product.
