GPU Sales Data By German Retailer Shows That 16 GB GPUs Still Lead The Market Despite Being Way More Expensive Than Ever

Even though we see extremely expensive graphics cards at the stores, higher VRAM GPUs remain the best-selling units.

The GPU sales are declining steadily, just like any other computer component that utilizes memory. Graphics cards are particularly affected components due to their high demand in the gaming community. Almost every SKU in the latest RTX 50 series and Radeon RX 9000 series has witnessed at least a 20% price jump in recent months, and s ome have jumped by over 40% in just a single month .

This particularly affected GPUs with higher VRAM capacity, like the Radeon RX 9070 XT and RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB, which remain the most popular modern-gen graphics cards with 16 GB of VRAM. In some regions, the RTX 5060 Ti 16 GB is now selling for over $800 , competing with the RTX 5070 listings. Despite this, we see these GPUs at the top of the leaderboard when it comes to the best-selling SKUs.

The latest GPU sales stats for Mindfactory reveal exactly the same trend. As shared by @TechEpiphanyYT , the July 2026 sales data confirm that users don't want to limit themselves to just 8 GB of VRAM capacity, even though the high-VRAM GPUs witness sky-high prices. As per the monthly stats, the Radeon RX 9070 XT remains the top-selling graphics card at the store, as usual. With nearly 725 units shipped, it is significantly ahead of any other GPU on the list.

The next one is the Radeon RX 9060 XT, which is yet another GPU with 8 GB and 16 GB flavors. Obviously, the sales are driven by the 16 GB model, as we have seen before, particularly because the GPU is usually seen listed for a much lower price than its NVIDIA counterpart. On the other hand, the RTX 5060 Ti loses to the RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti, but remains one of the top-selling RTX 50 series GPUs, with 185 units shipped in a single month.

Both RTX 5070 and RTX 5070 Ti ship with a decent amount of VRAM capacity and are among the top sellers, while those with lower VRAM capacity, such as the RTX 5060 series with 8 GB of memory, RTX 5050, and other entry-level cards, could hardly sell beyond 20-25 units each. At the same time, it's crucial to understand that RAMpocalypse doesn't affect these entry-level GPUs as much as it does the higher-end SKUs. However, this trend is expected to change this year, as PC Partner Group expects entry-level GPUs to become almost unaffordable in the second half of 2026.

Before you make any conclusions, keep in mind that these are the July 2026 stats, and the recent price hike took place at the beginning of August. With newer price adjustments, the 16 GB GPUs have become way more expensive than ever, which could affect their sales in the coming months. Still, people will likely continue preferring GPUs with more VRAM for superior performance and better future-proofing.
