You can now order more memory for your GPU
© AI向GPU専門家 The GeForce RTX 2080 Ti 22GB memory upgrade we covered last month is now available from another repair shop. Our previous story focused on GPU Solutions, which had offered the conversion for years. However, its updated page no longer showed a price or a way to order the upgrade.
A Japanese GPU repair specialist called AiGPU is now offering the same 11GB to 22GB conversion. The shop charges ¥45,000, around $282 , when customers provide their own RTX 2080 Ti. The process replaces the original 1GB GDDR6 modules with 2GB chips and requires changes to the memory configuration so the GPU recognizes the doubled capacity.
RTX 2080 Ti gets another life with 22GB
The shop is also selling complete modified cards. One MSI GeForce RTX 2080 Ti with 22GB of VRAM was listed on Mercari for ¥65,000 and has already sold. The seller advertised the card for AI workloads and confirmed that the modified configuration had been tested.
This is not limited to Turing. The shop currently lists several VRAM upgrades, including RTX A2000 6GB to 12GB, RTX 3070 8GB to 16GB, RTX 3080 10GB to 20GB, RTX 4080/4080 SUPER 16GB to 32GB and RTX 4090 24GB to 48GB.

2026 resolution: upgrade your old GPU
The RTX 3080 option connects directly with what we reported yesterday . Modified 20GB RTX 3080 cards are again appearing in larger numbers in China as cheaper alternatives to newer GPUs with large memory configurations. Those cards double the original 10GB capacity while retaining the same GA102 GPU and 320-bit memory bus.
As I said yesterday, the graphics card market really does appear to be evolving backwards. Eight-year-old Turing cards and six-year-old Ampere models are receiving memory upgrades and returning to the market as high-capacity alternatives. Doubling the VRAM does not increase GPU compute performance or memory bandwidth, but 22GB gives the RTX 2080 Ti much more room for AI workloads and applications limited by memory capacity.
