Googlebook launch partners to showcase hardware in New York on September 15

Google is reportedly holding a dedicated Googlebook media event in New York City on September 15. Chrome Unboxed says it received an official invitation from Google confirming the date and outlining the event program.
The event will include a presentation from Google leadership covering the new computing platform and its software architecture. Google’s hardware partners are also expected to operate demo stations with devices available for hands-on testing.
Googlebook hardware will be available for hands-on testing
According to the invitation, attending media will be able to photograph, film and benchmark the first Googlebook systems. This suggests the September event will cover more than the software platform and will include hardware from several launch partners.
© Google Google has already confirmed Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP and Lenovo as Googlebook partners. The company announced the platform earlier this year and said the first devices would arrive this fall.
September 15 date is not public yet
Several other publications have since reported the September 15 date, but their reports currently point back to Chrome Unboxed. We have not found another outlet saying it independently received the same invitation.
Google also does not appear to have published the September 15 date through its public channels yet. Perhaps this is just a press event, but the fact that they are allowed to film and share benchmarks usually suggests that the launch is embargoed at the same time.
