NVIDIA GeForce NOW adds official Firefox support, up to 1440p 120 FPS

Firefox 154 adds official NVIDIA GeForce NOW cloud gaming support

NVIDIA has added Firefox to the list of browsers officially supported by GeForce NOW. The service can now stream games directly through Firefox on Windows without requiring the dedicated GeForce NOW application. Mozilla says the feature was developed through several months of engineering work with NVIDIA.

Firefox users can access more than 2,000 games supported by GeForce NOW. That’s of course assuming they have purchased that menu because GeForce NOW is not about owning games, it’s about a method of accesing them through streaming.

Firefox streaming supports up to 1440p 120 FPS

GeForce NOW Ultimate subscribers can stream through Firefox at up to 2560×1440 resolution and 120 FPS. Users can access supported games from Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, Xbox PC Game Pass and Ubisoft Connect after linking or signing into the relevant accounts.

GeForce NOW supports Linux

Mozilla recommends updating to the latest Firefox release before using GeForce NOW. Firefox 154 was released on August 18, the same day the GeForce NOW support was announced, making it the current stable version. Users can then access GeForce NOW through the service’s browser interface and sign in normally.

Firefox joins NVIDIA’s supported browsers

Firefox arrives considerably later than Chromium-based alternatives such as Chrome, Edge and Opera GX. NVIDIA previously added browser streaming support for Opera GX on Windows and macOS. Firefox support is currently announced specifically for Windows.

NVIDIA and Mozilla also confirmed that more information about their partnership will be announced during Gamescom on August 25. For now, the update removes the need for Firefox users to switch browsers or install the Windows application when accessing GeForce NOW.
