Following the game's launch in late 2023, Remedy Entertainment provided excellent post-launch support for Alan Wake 2 (which has been confirmed to have sold 3 million units to date ), releasing multiple updates and DLC expansions, one of them leading directly into the studio's next game, CONTROL Resonant . Despite the long time since release, Remedy hasn't abandoned its game, and a new PC update introduces some welcome new features and improvements, including official AMD FSR 4 support on PC .
The new patch for one of the best games ever made by the Finnish developer introduces PC support for AMD FSR 4 , which is automatically enabled on supported GPUs when FSR Super Resolution is selected. In addition, AMD FSR Frame Generation support was also added for smoother gameplay on supported GPUs.
Rounding up the changes and improvements on PC is Opacity Micromaps and Shader Execution Reordering now using the Agility SDK , allowing support across multiple GPU vendors and fixes for audio synchronization issues on all platforms and a few other minor crashes.
The timing for the release of the latest Alan Wake 2 update couldn't have been better, as Remedy Entertainment has confirmed that CONTROL Resonant , which was briefly teased at the end of The Lake House DLC expansion, has gone gold, over one month ahead of its release on September 24 on PC , PlayStation 5 , and Xbox Series X|S .
However, this welcome news was accompanied by a more disappointing announcement. The physical edition of the game has received a last-minute delay to October 15 . "Get ready to unleash Dylan Faden's paranatural abilities in warped Manhattan on September 24," Remedy wrote in its statement . "We need just a little more time to deliver the physical version to you, but rest assured - nothing stays contained forever."
Considering how many games are releasing in September, including Onimusha: Way of the Sword , The Blood of Dawnwalke r , Silent Hill: Townfall , and Marvel's Wolverine , a small delay for the physical release could give some the opportunity to enjoy more of the games launching in one of the craziest game release months to date, courtesy of GTA 6 launching on November 19 and forcing every publisher to release their end of the year games before it will captivate the attention of most games all over the world.
