It seems as though even PlayStation, who recently said that it would be doubling down on live-service games , may be feeling the turning negative player sentiment over the live-service gaming industry. A report by Bloomberg claims that PlayStation and Guerilla Games are overhauling Horizon Hunters Gather, the live-service co-op game announced in February 2026 , after negative player feedback.

According to insiders, Guerilla Games has been stripping out the live-service aspects of the game in favor of a more traditional co-op gaming approach since June 2026. The resulting game will have a reduced scope and a story mode. It also sounds like the game was on the brink of being cancelled, with the insiders stating that executives told staff in a recent meeting that the team working on the game would have until December to impress executives with the next milestone.
