Steam Frame retail setup videos leak ahead of summer launch
© Valve Valve appears to be getting closer to releasing Steam Frame. A collection of official unboxing and setup videos briefly appeared through an update to the ARM version of the Steam client. According to Steam Hardware Updates, Valve removed the videos shortly afterward, but the files had already been saved and shared. The videos were hosted on Valve’s own Steam CDN.
The collection includes eight videos covering unboxing, fit and comfort, IPD adjustment, Steam sign-in, the wireless adapter and optional accessories. One video shows how the headset’s pivot arms can be adjusted for fit. Valve also demonstrates a spacer placed under the face gasket for users wearing glasses.

Another video explains how the included wireless adapter connects to a PC or Steam Machine for game streaming. Steam Frame is designed to work as both a standalone ARM-based system and as a wireless PC VR headset. Valve’s developer documentation confirms support for standalone applications as well as streamed Windows and Linux PC games.
The leaked material also covers Valve’s separate Ergonomic Accessories Kit. It includes controller hand straps, a top head strap intended to improve weight distribution and headset stability, and an extended light blocker designed to improve the seal around smaller noses. Valve had previously shown some of these accessories, but the new videos provide installation instructions intended for retail users.
Steam Frame uses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor and has 2160×2160 LCD panels for each eye. It supports standalone games running directly on the headset as well as PC streaming through the dedicated wireless adapter. Valve has also been expanding Steam’s ARM support ahead of launch, including making its FEX translation layer and Lepton components publicly available earlier this month.
Steam Frame is still scheduled for this summer
Valve has not announced the Steam Frame price or an exact release date. The company confirmed in June that Steam Frame and Steam Machine are both scheduled to ship this summer.
