GPD prices WIN MAX 3 Strix Halo at $1,750, says this is the best it can offer

GPD has confirmed the starting price for its upcoming WIN MAX 3 handheld laptop. The AMD Strix Halo version will start at $1,750 , slightly above the previously discussed target of $1,699.
The base configuration uses the Ryzen AI Max+ 388 with Radeon 8060S graphics, 32GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory and a 1TB SSD. GPD will also offer a 64GB/2TB version for $2,246, while the Ryzen AI Max+ 395 configuration with 128GB and 2TB storage is priced at $3,499.
GPD says it cannot negotiate like larger PC brands
GPD has now explained why it could not reach its earlier $1,699 target. The company points directly to the current memory shortage and says its procurement team could not bring the cost down any further.
© GPD GPD also acknowledges that its size puts it at a disadvantage when negotiating component prices. The company says it does not have the same bargaining power as larger PC brands, which limits what it can achieve with pricing. GPD describes $1,750 as the best price it can currently provide for the Strix Halo model.
110W Strix Halo with a 165Hz OLED display
As covered previously, the WIN MAX 3 combines the Strix Halo platform with a 9.06-inch 2400×1504 OLED display running at 165Hz. It also supports up to 128GB of LPDDR5X-8000 memory and uses a removable 97Wh battery. The external cooling module allows the system to operate the Strix Halo processor at up to 110W.
The WIN MAX 3 campaign is scheduled to begin on Indiegogo on September 2.
