Silent Hill: Townfall Drops an 18-minute Gameplay Deep Dive, Yet It’s The Soundtrack That Impresses The Most

Following the launch of the Silent Hill 2 remake and Silent Hill f , the survival-horror series by KONAMI has finally returned to the spotlight after long years of absence. The series' revival will continue next month with Silent Hill: Townfall , a first-person game that promises to deliver everything the series is loved for in the first entry in the franchise set in Europe.

Earlier today, KONAMI , publisher Annapurna Interactive , and developer Screen Burn Interactive shared on YouTube a new trailer that is more of a proper showcase, as its 18-minute duration provides a rather good look at the game's haunting visuals, and at how Simon will explore the fog-shrouded island of St. Amelia on his return to it to make things right.

Although the atmosphere is looking top-notch, combat is looking satisfying enough, albeit in a rather straightforward manner, which is a definite plus for a game that is definitely not as combat-focused as Silent Hill f is.

While Silent Hill: Townfall seems set to deliver impressive visuals, this new trailer highlighted how important music is to a horror game whose success depends entirely on its atmosphere. Although Silent Hill f did feature pieces from longtime series composer Akira Yamaoka , the new entry in the series seems to top it significantly even without his involvement, as the music and audio production featured in the trailer enhance the experience significantly, and has left me quite impressed.

Thankfully, it won't be long until fans of the series will be able to accompany Simon to the island of St. Amelia , as Silent Hill: Townfall launches on PC and PlayStation 5 on September 24. Check out the official system requirements if you're planning to get the game on PC to see if your system can handle ìit.
