James Bond Game 007 First Light Hits 4 Million Units Sold in 3 Months, Ranking among 2026’s Fastest-Selling Premium Games

Today, IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios proudly announced that 007 First Light has surpassed 4 million units sold in its first three months on the market , which makes the action/adventure game one of 2026's fastest-selling premium titles.

The press release highlights that the milestone proves the global excitement for 007 First Light . The game's remarkable success, both critically and commercially (especially with the upcoming launch on Nintendo Switch 2 still on the way later this year), highlights the franchise's lasting charm and the favorable response to the studio's ambitious goal of delivering a premium, original Bond experience to audiences worldwide. This ongoing sales momentum emphasizes the game's significant cultural impact. The launch positions 007 First Light as one of the most successful gaming releases of 2026, solidifying IO Interactive's status as a prominent player (even though, sadly, the studio lost the support of Microsoft for its upcoming online action RPG Project Fantasy , which is now being directly funded by the Danish studio ).

It sounds weird now, but there was uncertainty for a while on whether the James Bond rights holder, Amazon MGM Studios, would allow IO Interactive to make the sequel. Amazon Gaming's new head, Jeff Gattis , had hinted as much in early June , but a month and a half later, he changed his tune and practically confirmed that IO Interactive will be once again at the helm . That's great news, because 007 First Light was a fantastic first outing .

IO Interactive is all in on expanding 007 First Light during Year One , backed by a detailed content plan. This includes frequent Tactical Simulation updates that will introduce fresh challenges to some of the game's classic spots, such as Kensington's Workshop, the mountain slopes of Slovakia, Mauritania's black market, and the luxurious Pearl resort in Vietnam. Players will dig into new intel about Webb Industries and look into a mysterious piece of tech that could turn out to be one of Bond's fiercest foes. After the events in Mauritania, an unexpected partnership between MI6 and Pirate King Bawma will need Bond to step in for a delicate mission .

Throughout Year One, players can look forward to regular TacSim updates featuring gadget enhancements, new weapons, leaderboard challenges, cosmetics, and more gameplay scenarios, with the possibility of New Game+ being introduced to boost campaign replayability. The path tracing update for PC, developed in partnership with NVIDIA , is also still on the way after its delay .
