CPU-Z 3.01 released with new PC health checks and Validator V3

CPU-Z 3.01 released with over 100 PC health checks

CPUID has released CPU-Z 3.01, the first version in the CPU-Z 3.x series. The update introduces Validator V3, a redesigned online validation platform that now combines hardware validation with system health checks and diagnostics.

The standard validation process still starts from the familiar Validate button, but it can now analyze the system in less than 10 seconds. CPUID says it checks more than 100 detection points. These include outdated drivers, overheating CPUs and SSDs, bloatware, hardware issues and suspicious system configurations. Problems are classified as Critical, Warning or Informational.

CPU-Z validation is changing for overclockers

CPU-Z Validator V3 also introduces a redesigned XOC mode for CPU and memory overclocking. The previous V2 Standard mode applied a five-second load and required frequency readings from all sources to remain within 1%. V2 XOC disabled the load and most checks, but such submissions received an “unsure” status.

V3 XOC keeps the load disabled but now calculates both input and effective frequencies. If the effective clock is lower than the reported input frequency, CPU-Z can still validate the submission using the lower effective value. CPUID says the change is intended to account for modern CPUs where multiple internal clocks can operate independently and change several times per second.

Advanced validation for CPU, GPU and memory

A more extensive Advanced Validation mode is also being developed. This will run for anywhere from a few minutes to several hours and apply heavier workloads with error detection for the CPU, RAM and GPU. It will also expand CPU-Z benchmarking beyond the CPU to include GPU, memory and storage performance. Live monitoring based on HWMonitor will display temperatures, frequencies and fan speeds.

CPU-Z 3.01 is available in 32-bit and 64-bit versions. The 3.x branch requires at least a patched Windows 7 installation. Offline validation remains supported. Validator V3 is currently marked as beta, while V2 will continue accepting submissions until October 20, 2026, after which its database will become read-only.
