eBay Seller Shipped Out A Pristine Ryzen 5 3600X, Customer Attempted A Fake Non-Delivery Claim; Returned CPU Looks Like It Met A Tornado With Bent Pins & Warped IHS

An eBay customer who ordered AMD’s older Ryzen 5 3600X attempted a series of tricks on a seller to obtain a refund, such as issuing a non-delivery claim and also stating that the desktop CPU had bent pins. The seller has shared images of the pristine version before it was shipped out, and upon receiving it again from the buyer, it looks like the Ryzen 5 3600X met a blender. Nearly all of its pins have been bent, not to mention that the IHS is warped beyond repair.

One can only imagine the sheer amount of force required to bend the IHS, along with going through the trouble of completely destroying the pins to the point of no return. According to Redditor “Diogenes-235711,” the images of the Ryzen 5 3600X before being delivered to the buyer show an untampered CPU. Unfortunately, some buyers try to take advantage of eBay’s buyer guarantee and pin the blame on the seller by posting photos of faulty or damaged products.

Thankfully, Diogenes-235711 was clever enough to save the pictures of the pristine Ryzen 5 3600X before shipping it out, and because the serial numbers of both images matched, it’s clear as day that the customer was responsible. Unfortunately, as far as repercussions go, eBay won’t penalize the buyer, despite all the evidence provided, since the online marketplace has a system in place that forces you to accept a refund.

Even though eBay has accepted that the seller isn’t liable for what happened to the Ryzen 5 3600X, the buyer will still receive a refund. The disappointing aspect about this entire scenario is that the CPU was probably in perfect working condition, and it didn’t have to meet a fate as gruesome as what you’re seeing in the pictures. Luckily, there’s still a market for heavily damaged processors, and though it’s now been listed for $1.99, parts such as gold pins can still be salvaged.

Let this event be a stark reminder that scams can emanate from both fronts, and it’s not just the sellers that should receive the brunt of criticism.
