Samsung demonstrates world’s first 300Hz OLED laptop display
© SAMSUNG Samsung Display has officially shown its first 300Hz OLED panel for gaming laptops. The new 16-inch panel was demonstrated at IMID 2026 in Busan, South Korea, where Samsung labels it as the world’s first laptop self-emissive display operating at this refresh rate.
The company only confirms a 16-inch size, 2.5K resolution and 300Hz refresh rate. Samsung’s booth signage refers to the panel as “16” WQ OLED 300Hz.” The company has not disclosed its brightness, HDR certification, response time or exact pixel resolution.
Laptop OLED moves beyond 240Hz
This is a step up from Samsung Display’s laptop OLED lineup shown at Computex 2026. At the time, the company said its gaming laptop OLED panels were available between 165Hz and 240Hz, with 240Hz being the highest refresh rate among shipping laptop OLED displays.
We covered that announcement in June, when Samsung also showed its Ultra Slim laptop OLED and the 31.5-inch 4K 360Hz QD-OLED monitor panel. Samsung demonstrated a 16-inch 2560×1600 OLED laptop at that event, although it has not confirmed that the new 300Hz panel uses the same pixel resolution.
© SAMSUNG Samsung has recently expanded its laptop OLED technology in other areas as well. Last month, the company started supplying tandem OLED panels capable of up to 1,600 nits and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 1400 certification to Lenovo, with ASUS, Dell and MSI also preparing products. Samsung does not say whether the new 300Hz panel uses this tandem structure.
The IMID booth also includes Samsung’s previously announced 31.5-inch 4K 360Hz QD-OLED and 34-inch 21:9 360Hz QD-OLED panels. The 34-inch model has already been in mass production since December 2025, while production of the 31.5-inch 4K 360Hz panel is planned for the second half of 2026.
Samsung has not provided a production schedule or named laptop manufacturers for the new 300Hz OLED panel.
