AMD Radeon RX 6600 Final Specifications and Official Performance leaked

AMD Radeon RX 6600 launches October 13th

We have the final specifications and performance figures for the next SKU from the AMD RDNA2 series.

The Radeon RX 6600 non-XT will feature 1792 Stream Processors , a reduction of 256 cores compared to the XT variant. At launch this card will be the slowest variant of AMD RDNA2 desktop gaming GPU, however, it will not be the only Radeon to feature this configuration. AMD had already used 1792-core Navi 23 GPU for Radeon RX 6600M (laptop GPU) and both the Radeon Pro W6600 and its mobile version W6600M. The launch of the desktop gaming variant was definitely to be expected.

Just like Radeon RX 6600 XT, this launch will not feature its reference design. The marketing materials only show the single-fan model that was already used as a promotional content for the XT variant, which has not been used by any board partner yet. The new model will require less power though. The official TBP (Typical Board Power) is 132W , a reduction of 28W compared to the RX 6600 XT.

Official clock speeds are 2044 MHz game clock and 2491 MHz boost clock, which may explain how AMD managed to reduce power on this Navi 23 model, the base clock has been lowered by 315 MHz.

In official specs, AMD lists 8GB GDDR6 memory but with a note ‘up to’, which suggests that AIBs might at some point offer 4GB models.

AMD Radeon RX 6600 reviewers’ guide offers a quick look at this card’s performance. NVIDIA has not released any counterpart for this market segment yet (such as RTX 3050 Ti), which is why AMD had to either use GeForce RTX 3060 or RTX 2060 for comparison. Thus, most charts are comparing RX 6600 non-XT to RTX 3060.

AMD is only using high-quality presets, which was probably to be expected considering the large frame buffer this card offers, however, it might not always be the ideal choice for all gamers depending on the resolution. In RX 6600 case, 1080p gaming is the target, where the card offers 60+ FPS in all games that were tested.

All graphics cards were evaluated on AMD Ryzen 5 5600X equipped system with either AMD Smart Access Memory or Resizable BAR enabled. Remember those are AMD official (in-house) testing results, which may not mirror the data presented by independent reviewers on October 13th, when the embargo on their content lifts.
