HWiNFO gets preliminary Intel 13th Gen Core “Raptor Lake” support

Intel 13th Gen Core supported by HWiNFO

Alder Lake series might not be here yet, but the initial support for its successor – Raptor lake – has already landed for HWiNFO.

The 13th Gen Core will introduce a new microarchitecture called Raptor Cove for Performance (big) cores while retaining Gracemont for Efficient (small) cores. The core design upgrade is not the only change coming to Alder Lake’s successor, as the series will also introduce higher core counts, up to 24 cores in total.

Same as Alder Lake, 13th Gen Core will feature Raptor Lake CPUs across the stack, for both mobile and desktop markets. The times when Intel was splitting architectures between mobile and desktop segments have ended, at least for now. The latest update for HWiNFO appears to confirm just that, as both the desktop Raptor Lake-S and mobile Raptor Lake-P have been added to the support list of the monitoring software at the same time:

Intel Raptor Lake will introduce changes to the Hybrid CPU Core, with a goal to improve performance. It is yet to be verified how efficient is Alder Lake is the most common workload, but Intel is clearly focusing on this design for the future. Along with support for LPDDR5X memory and improved CPU cache for gaming, the series will also include a new power delivery mechanism, while keeping the same TDP ranges as Alder Lake: 125W, 65W, and 35W for desktop SKUs and sub-45W for mobile.

Intel Raptor Lake is now scheduled to launch in late 2022, possibly around the time AMD launches its Zen4 architecture.
