TCL CSOT teases a 32-inch 4K gaming monitor with 240Hz refresh rate

TCL planning fast 4K monitors

At TCL CSOT Global Display Tech-Ecosystem Conference (DTC 2021), the TV and monitor panel manufacturer announced it will develop the world’s first 4K panel with a 144Hz+ refresh rate.

The TCL CSOT (TCL China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd.) is now developing a 4K 32-inch panel with a 240 Hz refresh rate, a frequency thus far not available with any 4K gaming monitor. The details on this new panel are scarce, in fact, even the official blog post from TCL China does not mention this panel at all. Although it seems that it was included in promotional materials later distributed to the Chinese media.

According to ITHome, a monitor equipped with this panel is to offer 1 ms response time and TCL’s own image compression algorithm. It is not stated how many bits the panel shows, in fact, this is as far the information goes, so there is not much to say at this point.

The advertisement calls this panel a 32″ UD 240Hz R800 “Gaming Display”. Judging from the photo, it is also a curved screen. Although TCL does sell gaming monitors, they are usually sold to OEMs for further rebranding. Thus we are unlikely to see TCL branded 4K 240Hz monitor.
