Intel is preparing to launch its next-generation lineup of NUC mini PCs labeled as 11th generation NUCs. This lineup is expected to be rocking Intel's latest and greatest Tiger Lake-U processors at its heart. In the latest 3D Mark benchmark database, a NUC 11 Extreme PC codenamed "Phantom Canyon" has been spotted with the new Tiger Lake-U CPU that runs at an amazing 4.4 GHz. This is notably a big improvement compared to the highest-performing Ice Lake-U parts, which run at 4.1 GHz at max. Being that the Engineering Sample (ES) is in question here, we can expect the final frequencies of non-ES CPU to be even higher. Just recently we have reported a Tiger Lake-U submission which showed that the CPU has reached 5 GHz turbo frequency.
The configuration in which the new CPU was spotted included NVIDIA's GeForce GTX 1660 Ti graphics card and 8 GB of RAM. This configuration could be available as the final product, however, we are expecting that even more powerful GPU options will be available. The configuration has scored 5335 points in the graphics test, while the CPU score was 4590. These scores, of course, are not final as this could only be a prototype device. Intel has originally planned to launch NUC 11 lineup in 2H2020 before the pandemic started. The delays in the whole industry could reflect here as well, so we don't know when to expect the arrival of these systems.
