Meet the RTX 3090 Ti, Nvidia's soon-to-be Gaming flagship

Presenting ASUS' TUF Gaming RTX 3090 Ti, a graphics card that has been leaked via a newly revealed image over at IT HOME . This packaging leak gives us a first look at Nvidia's upcoming RTX 3090 replacement, a graphics card offering gamers updated specifications and boosted performance levels.

When looking at the RTX 3090 Ti packaging below, one visible change is that the RTX 3090 Ti appears to feature an updated cooling solution when compared to its RTX 3090 counterpart. It looks like ASUS has updated their RTX 3090 Ti's fans to include more fan blades, an alteration that may increase the graphics card's cooling performance.

Specification leaks for Nvidia's RTX 3090 Ti suggest that the graphics card will feature fast GDDR6X memory modules (21Gbps vs 19.5 Gbps), and use fewer GDDR6X modules to achieve its 24 GB frame buffer. Nvidia's RTX 3090 Ti will move the graphics card to Micron's 2 GB GDDR6X memory modules, which means that the RTX 3090 Ti will use 12 GDDR6X modules. Nvidia's RTX 3090 currently uses 24 1 GB GDDR6X memory chips. This change should simplify the cooling and manufacturing requirements of Nvidia's RTX 3090 Ti when compared to its predecessor, as there is no longer any GDDR6X memory on the rear of its PCB.

Nvidia's RTX 3090 Ti will reportedly feature a CUDA core count 10,752. This is roughly a 2.4% increase in CUDA core count over the RTX 3090. Beyond that, Nvidia's RTX 3090 Ti reportedly features a 450W TDP.

Based on the image above, Nvidia's RTX 3090 Ti heatsink already includes new fans, though it is possible that Nvidia's RTX 3090 Ti will also feature a larger/thicker heatsink. ASUS needs to handle the RTX 3090 Ti's rumoured TDP, and a larger heatsink and redesigned fans is one way to achieve this.

Currently, Nvidia's next major GPU-focused announcements are due to be on January 4th at CES 2022. This is where Nvidia are likely to reveal their RTX 3090 Ti graphics card. The exact specifications and pricing of this new GPU model are currently unknown.
