ASUS' latest 360Hz display cranks its resolution up to 1440p, delivering sharper eSports gaming performance

ASUS has a new flagship eSports gaming display, offering gamers a crazy fast 360Hz refresh date and a screen resolution of 2560x1440, delivering shaper results than older 1080p 360Hz monitors and great colour accuracy with its ultra-fast IPS panel.

At CES 2022, ASUS officially revealed its ROG Swift 360Hz PG27AQN monitor, offering gamers ultra smooth visuals and the sharpness that comes with screen resolutions that are higher than 1080p.

ASUS uses the bandwidth of DisplayPort 1.4 to enable such a high refresh rate experience at 1440p, and an Nvidia G-Sync processor to deliver fast response times, G-Sync variable refresh rate support and Nvidia's Reflex Latency Analyser support. This screen also features HDMI 2.0 ports that can be used to connect this screen to other devices at a lower refresh rate.

With a 27-inch screen size and a 1440p resolution, this screen features a PPI (pixels per inch) level that is seen as optimal by many PC enthusiasts.

What is Ultra-Fast IPS?

ASUS has used multiple techniques to make its ROG Swift PG27AQN the monster 1440p screen that it is. For starters, ASUS re-oriented their monitor's liquid crystals to boost their screen's efficiency, allowing their newest screens to turn from black to white in less time. On top of that, ASUS has also utilised a dual-layer voltage driver design, allowing liquid crystals to twist from opposing corners of their PG27AQN's screen, decreasing the time it takes for the full screen to refresh while also giving users a more consistent image.

The video below from ASUS showcases how their Ultra-Fast IPS technology works, and how it has enabled the creation of this 360Hz 1440p monitor.

With an ultra-high 360Hz refresh rate and a 1440p resolution, competitive gamers no longer need to choose between ultra high refresh rates and screen resolutions beyond 1080p. Sadly, ASUS has not revealed the pricing of their ROG Swift PG27AQN 360Hz monitor, though they have confirmed that the screen will b available this year.
