AMD supposedly only focusing on full-die Navi 2X Radeon RX 6X50XT refresh, no RX 6850XT planned

Please note that this post is tagged as a rumor .

AMD Radeon RX 6850XT allegedly not happening

The RX 6X50XT refresh might include three SKUs only.

Wjm47196, Greymon55, coreteks, and Moore’s Law is Dead now all claim that there is a Radeon RX 6X50XT refresh coming in the next few months. Various dates are being mentioned such as April for the high-end part and Q2 or June/July specifically for the remaining SKUs. There seems to be some confusion though about which SKUs are being refreshed.

MLID, despite claiming otherwise just two weeks ago, now believes that there is no RX 6850XT GPU planned. This actually matches the information posted by coreteks who has said he had not heard about such SKU.

Therefore, the refresh of RX 6000 cards would supposedly only include full-die parts such as 6950XT (Navi 21), 6750XT (Navi 22), and 6650XT (Navi 23). The Navi 24 based RX 6500XT would be the only part not getting an update, simply because it already offers 18 Gbps memory, which is supposedly the main reason AMD is even considering a refresh.

I can now confirm that #AMD does NOT plan to release an "RX 6850 XT". Also:

1) 6950 XT is on track!

2) 6750 XT & 6650 XT are CURRENTLY planned for Q2

I briefly talk about it on Broken Silicon tomorrow, and I actually suggested most of this last week: https://t.co/GPPkxcov8t

With no RX 6850XT or 6850 planned, one might wonder how is AMD going to respond to upcoming Intel Arc Alchemist and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 16GB cards, supposedly also coming in the next few months.

The most recent RX 6X50XT rumors are focusing on the flagship part called RX 6950XT. This model is now expected to feature the more-capable Navi 21 XTXH GPU alongside with faster 18 Gbps memory and increased TDP from 300W to 350W compared to the original model. This model specifically is supposedly being prepared to compete with the yet unreleased GeForce RTX 3090 Ti model, which apparently has been delayed after encountering production issues .
