Intel Arrow Lake-P with 320EU GPU confirmed by a leaked roadmap, targeting to compete with Apple 14″ premium laptops

Intel Arrow Lake-P GPU confirmed feature up to 320EUs

Just a few days ago Intel officially confirmed it will launch Arrow Lake architecture by 2024. This successor to Meteor Lake is now confirmed to utilize a combination of three process nodes. It will also take advantage of Intel’s new die disaggregated strategy that will be implemented into client products.

Arrow Lake-P is a mobile architecture first mentioned by AdoredTV back in August 2021. According to that rumor, the new architecture would feature 6 Big (Performance) cores and 8 Little (Effcicent) cores. More importantly, though, it was rumored to feature as many as 320 graphics Execution Units (codenamed GT3), suggesting an entirely new performance segment for laptop APUs.

This claim has now been confirmed, as nearly a half year later AdoredTV has now leaked the full slide from Intel’s internal roadmap. It is not only very informative about a product that is still 2 years away from now, but it also gives a unique insight into Intel’s multi-year chip planning.

The roadmap shows a timeline for each silicon state, such as ES1, Alpha, ES2, Beta, QS, PV, and PRQ. The earliest version of Arrow Lake-P silicon is targetting late 2022, while the final product should be ready by week 33rd of 2023.

This slide also confirms that Arrow Lake-P codenamed “Halo” is targetting Apple 14″ premium designs, possibly to be part of the Intel EVO platform. The processor is to feature a 320EU GPU chipset, which was estimated (at the time) to be under 80 mm². Any changes to the design that would result in extending this size would require TSMC wafer reassessment, the notes claim. Intel has not officially stated who is the ‘external N3’ foundry, but the leaked document clearly mentions TSMC N3.

Furthermore, it is said that Arrow Lake-P has a priority over Arrow Lake S (desktop) series. The Arrow Lake series are expected to land as the 15th Gen Core series and utilize the same socket as Meteor Lake (at least for desktop systems).
