GSC Game World asks the world to support Ukraine
Last Thursday, the world changed overnight for the citizens of Ukraine, including the employees of GSC Game World, the studio behind STALKER 2: Heart of Chernobyl, one of 2022's most highly anticipated games. Now, almost a week has passed and Russia's attacks on Ukraine have only gotten more vicious. The conflict has already created hundreds of thousands of refugees, and things are likely to get worse.
Today, GSC Game World released a video update, calling on the world to support Ukraine's armed forces and charities that plan to deliver aid to the nation. The video below is called "Lights! Camera! War..." and a transcript of what is said in the video can be read below.
The previous week, we were editing the video about our motion-capture studio. We wanted to show how the cutscenes were created. Took time to watch videos, write scripts and speak with actors.
The previous week was ages ago.
On the 24th of February, Russia declared war on Ukraine and sent rockets, tanks and soldiers to our homeland. Our country is forced to fight for existence again. Seems like this is the price of freedom.
This video is our answer to the "How are you guys?" question. Now, we are striving to help our employees and their families to survive. The game development shifted to the sidelines. But we will definitely continue. After the victory. Glory to Ukraine.
Last week, GSC Game World were working on a video showcasing the studio's motion capture techniques and other technologies within STALKER 2. Now, the company's focus has shifted to the survival of their staff and their families. Game development is no longer a priority for GSC Game World, which means that STALKER 2 has been delayed until after the war is over.
Below their video GSC Game World pointed to a bank account that the National Bank of Ukraine opened to support its armed services , and to the international charitable foundation " COME BACK ALIVE ".
