A new Tomb Raider game is un development using Unreal Engine 5
At Epic Games' "State of Unreal 2022" stream, Crystal Dynamics confirmed that the studio has moved to Unreal Engine 5 to create their next Tomb Raider game. Not only does this confirm that a new Tomb Raider game is in development, but that Crystal Dynamics is moving away from their in-house game engine to create this new title.
While Epic Games only launched Unreal Engine 5 to the masses today, the engine has been available to developers in an early access state for some time. That said, we should not expect to hear more about Crystal Dynamics' new Tomb Raider project anytime soon, as the game is likely far from its potential launch date.

Crystal Dynamics is not the only studio to move away from their in-house development tools and towards Unreal Engine. CD Projekt Red has recently confirmed that they are moving to Unreal Engine 5 to create their next The Witcher series game ( source ). Unreal Engine 5 has a similar user interface to Unreal Engine 4, and most game developers know how to use Unreal Engine's tools. Simply put, it takes a lot of time, effort, and money to create game development tools and train developers to use them. Moving to Unreal Engine simplifies matters, lowering development costs. Developers can also work on custom additions to Unreal Engine 5 to get more out of the engine if they desire.
Currently, nothing is know about Crystal Dynamics' new Tomb Raider game. It could be another reboot of the franchise, or it could be a continuation of their most recent Tomb Raider titles. The name of the new game is unknown, and it is unknown what platforms the game will be releasing on. However, the game is expected to be a current-generation exclusive that will launch on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
