Samsung's latest screens deliver 4K at crazy refresh rates with mini-LED backlights
Today, Samsung has revealed more information about their upcoming high refresh rate Odyssey Neo G7 and G8 monitors, both of which are Mini-LED monitors that offer resolutions of 4K with a 31.5 inch screen size.
the primary difference between these two screens is their refresh rate, with the Odyssey Neo G8 offering users a 240Hz refresh rate, while the Odyssey Neo G7 offers users a lower refresh rate of 165Hz. Both screens support DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.1, making it likely that the Neo G8 uses Display Scream Compression (DSC) to deliver 4K at 240Hz without Chroma Subsampling.
Both screens reportedly offer users a mini LED backlight that features 1196 local dimming zones, allowing the screen to offer users deeper blacks and bright highlights. Both screens are G-Sync Compatible and are AMD FreeSync Premium Pro certified, making this screen a great option for gamers, regardless of their GPU's manufacturer.

Another major difference between the Odyssey Neo G7 and G8 are the maximum brightness levels that are offered by each screen. The G8 model maxes out at 2,000 nits of screen brightness, whereas the G7 offers users a lower peak brightness of 1,000 nits. Both monitors are curved screens with a curvature radius of 1m.
Samsung's Odyssey Neo G8 will reportedly launch in June for $1,500 US. Currently, Samsung's G7 model has no pricing or release date, though it is likely to be significantly cheaper than the screen's higher-end G8 counterpart. Below is an image of Samsung's Odyssey G7.
